Great things to do in Dublin this weekend

Are you looking for some great things to do in Dublin this weekend? At Oscars International English School Dublin we ‘recommend culture’ and we let our students know what’s going on in the great city (aka town). This week we have a look at three events that are happening near Dublin City Centre and further afield over the next few days.

Great things to do in Dublin this weekend

Ukelele Tuesday, 4pm Saturday Jan 25th, The Arlington – FREE but register

Don’t be confused by the name. Ukulele Tuesday are the band. The event takes place on Saturday and it should be great fun. Ukulele Tuesday started as a small musical get-together in the Stag’s Head pub (just around the corner from the school) and it soon became pretty big.  ‘Psycho Killer’ by Talking Heads and ‘Hit Me Baby’ by Brittney Spears are among their best-known online renditions while Conde Naste has listed Ukulele Tuesday as #2 on their list of “10 Amazing Things to do in Dublin”. This event is part of Trad Fest 2020 which takes place across Dublin from January 22nd – 26th.

The Zero Waste Festival – Saturday & Sunday 25th – 26th Jan,  Science Gallery, Pearse Street, Dublin 2 – FREE but register

The Zero Waste Festival is free to attend and open to everyone. It includes a Zero Waste themed market with vendors and info stands, a wide range of talks and workshops on both days plus our beloved swap shop.

The festival runs in tandem with the PLASTIC exhibition in the Science Gallery which is full of highly engaging exhibits suitable for all ages that deal with the one material we can’t live with but also not without.

The Science Gallery will be open from 12 pm (noon) to 6 pm on both days. The Zero Waste market and swap shops will close at 5 pm, so come early to avoid disappointment.

Battleborn – Killers Tribute Act, Sat, 25 January 2020, 7pm – 11pm, Bloody Mary’s, 7 South William Street, Dublin 2 – FREE

According to our sources this tribute act is one of the best around and in a city with the best tribute acts on the planet that’s quote a claim. You can find out for yourself this coming Saturday when they play tracks from the array of outstanding albums including ‘Hot Fuss’ and ‘Wonderful Wonderful’.
