There are lots of very fine art galleries in Dublin. The Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery is a beautiful small gallery in Parnell Square which displays works by French Impressionists, modern Irish artists and houses a studio belonging to Francis Bacon which was transported piece by piece from his home in London.

On the other side of the city, is the newly refurbished National Gallery of Ireland which boasts works by famed international artists such as Pablo Picasso, Pisarro and Mark Rothko as well as Irish artists Louis LeBrocquy and Jack B. Yeats, brother of poet W.B.

As well as these permanent collections, the Royal Hibernian Academy hosts its annual exhibition of living artists This year is the 188th time the event has been hosted and as such it is Ireland’s largest and longest running exhibition of visual art. Open to all artists working in paint, drawing, print, sculpture, photography and architecture, the RHA Annual Exhibition attracts a large public and critical audience and had 48,000 visitors last year.
